Amecet n'ainapakin (Shelter of Peace) is a ministry of Youth With A Mission (YWAM)in Soroti, Uganda. We are reaching out to HIV infected and affected children. We also are caring for new born babies, who lost their mother after the delivery. The third group of children we help, are children who need a safe place, they mostly come via the police. In this blog we want to share with you our stories, our pictures, our needs and blessings!

Ugandan celebrates 55 years independance...

It is a public holiday, so the children are free and Calvin moves with them through the compound. For us it is a working day, so we celebrate with a special meal.....
You take 7½ KG. rice and 6 kg. meat, onions, tomatoes and special spices and you have Pilau. On this picture you see auntie Grace cleaning the rice......
At the same time, they frying the meat on a wood fire, as you can see this is teamwork!!
from left to right: Pauline, Beatrice, David, Mary and Grace!
Some time later a big pot with Pilau is carried into the kitchen. The children have been waiting for it, they are excited: left to right:Jennifer, Cathy, Kenneth, Ruth, Maliamu and Michel
They are the first to be served!! Of course the bottle with soda can not be missed at this occasion!!
We are all enjoying the special meal, there is enough left for the evening meal. So tonight we will be eating Pilau again, only the baby's, they just enjoy their bottle with milk.
