Amecet n'ainapakin (Shelter of Peace) is a ministry of Youth With A Mission (YWAM)in Soroti, Uganda. We are reaching out to HIV infected and affected children. We also are caring for new born babies, who lost their mother after the delivery. The third group of children we help, are children who need a safe place, they mostly come via the police. In this blog we want to share with you our stories, our pictures, our needs and blessings!

Ivan can rest now....

Ivan has passed away this morning at 6 am. Ivan was one of the three Musketeers, where I wrote about in the last blog. On that day, we went for more tests, the next day, Saturday, he had a good day. But Sunday it went wrong in the morning, he collapsed and went into a coma. He was put on oxygen and the doctor came to Amecet, to see him. He was put on IV. drip en got IV. medicines. He came out of the coma. Honestly, I was not thinking that he would survive it. but in the afternoon he could talk again and could eat and drink something. The next day, his mother came to see him and they had a good time together. This morning at 5 am he crashed again and it was this time very bad, he was put on IV drip, he was still on oxygen, but he died at 6 am, while he was in coma, without any struggle or fight....
We are sad, to see this boy go, he was still so young had such a struggle in his life with HIV/AIDS. Through the tests we had seen that there was so much HIV in his blood, the doctors had never seen such a high Viral Load in his blood, (in the millions). We could not help him in the battle against HIV/AIDS, but we could support him during his last days of his life.
Elias and Emmanuel carrying the coffin out of Amecet into the car..
We arrived in the village of the family of Ivan. The coffin was placed under the tree on a bed. the family and neighbours gathered around. We shared what has happened and then left the family to mourn Ivan. Tomorrow morning they will bury him.
Dear Ivan, you tried so good, now you may rest and enjoy the presence of the Father who has welcomed you!
